School Run Stress – Walk it off, ride it off, dance it off

We all seem so busy with our children today from rushing out of the house for the early morning school run to dashing from school, to all the after school activities children enjoy like football, dancing and swimming to name but a few. Our children appear to be very active and so why aren’t we? When you’re a busy parent it’s hard to find time for yourself, but taking time out for every day chores for some ‘me time’ will help you feel less stressed and increase your energy levels. And when we say ‘me time’, we are not talking about having a cup of tea and a biscuit on the sofa. Busy parents like yourself need to exercise and the following are simple, affordable and pleasurable.

Take A Walk

Autumnal mornings are gorgeous with their sunny skies and fresh crisp air, and they are just perfect for you to embrace a walk. Why not head to your nearest sea front or park and take the dog for a walk. If you don’t have a dog, ask a friend to join you as I guarantee time out in the morning air will certainly get you motivated for the rest of the day and walking is a great place to start any form of fit campaign. Regular brisk walking will reduce your stress levels and boost your mood and maintain a healthy weight. However in addition, research has proven that it can also help prevent or manage various conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure and type two diabetes. Walking will also strengthen bones and muscles. Some researchers claim that walking is more effective than running. So find yourself a comfortable pair of shoes or trainers and start rambling!

Get Pedalling

We don’t all have to train like Jason Kenny and Laura Trott to feel the benefits of cycling. Getting out and about on your bike on a daily basis will not only help you feel great but it can also help you lose weight. Cycling burns calories quickly and in a very short time span and is another great exercise for a healthy heart.

Keep Dancing

Taking up a form of dance like Zumba can also lift your mood and help you destress but it is probably one of the best forms of cardio exercise no matter what your weight or size. Dancing in any shape or form boosts your heart rate, works leg muscles and helps with coordination and balance. It’s great for core strength too. In addition to the physical benefits, dancing will improve your overall well being.
